Mechanical Engineer
Can is a Mechanical Engineer at Cambridge Atomworks, where he focuses on the design and build of critical reactor components. His responsibilities include the development of structural components, vessels, and pipework, as well as the integration of mechanical systems, thermal management systems, and instrumentation layouts.
Can joined the team with over eight years of engineering experience across the aerospace and automotive sectors, with a particular specialisation in gas turbine components. Prior to joining Cambridge Atomworks, he gained extensive experience at GE Aerospace, serving as an Advanced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer. During his tenure, he led complex design and durability initiatives for turbine rotors and airfoils, and he graduated from the prestigious Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP). His earlier career included significant R&D contributions at Mercedes-Benz, where he automated design processes for truck shaft systems.
Can holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. He is highly proficient in FEA and CAD tools, including ANSYS and NX, bringing a rigorous technical foundation to the advancement of next-generation nuclear technology.
